Well, after 6 weeks of diligent training, today arrived...race day. The race began at 6:00am (whose idea that was I don't know) and we had to be there at 5:30am. We had to leave our house by 5am! It was an early morning.
The whole family was geared up for the big race and it seemed as if Nolan was doing pretty good.
At about 1/2 mile in though the tides turned. Nolan started getting a fussy. Blaine told me to keep running and they would catch up. So, that's just what I did. I made it to 2 miles, then 3 miles, then the turn around point...no Blaine and Nolan. By that point I realized that they weren't going to be doing the run with me. So I carried on. At 5 miles there was Blaine and Nolan cheering me on! Blaine had made it to 1.5 miles carrying Nolan and pushing the jogger stroller (such a stud) when Nolan was getting really fussy. He changed his diaper, tried to give him his bottle...nothing. So he knew the race was done for them. Nolan fell asleep real quick after that.
(Nolan sleeping against dad...love it!)
That meant that I was to finish the race alone, but with my favorite 2 guys waiting for me at the finish line. I ran through at a record time for myself from all my training and felt good! I wasn't tired. I was hungry though! It felt so good to accomplish something that I had really been working hard at and especially to do it with the incredible support of my husband. He was so kind to pull out of the race to take care of our son and make sure I was going to finish so I could accomplish my goal. I love him!
It was a lot of fun and maybe there is a half marathon or triathalon in my future...hmmmm?!

Yay Mega! I wish I could have run with you! I love your running pose by the stroller. It looks quite familiar... hmmm.. like a pose for our other 10k 3 years ago ;) You've inspired me to sign up for a race!
Go Megan!!
Yay!! Congratulations, Megan!
Good job Megan!!! You could totally do a 1/2 marathon, I did one back in September and it felt great! Keep runnin'!
I vote for a triathlon. We should do one together.
