Megan has been busy with teaching dance at Payson High School. During the past semester she took her Dance Company on a dance tour to Orlando Florida. Her mom was gracious enough to fly out and meet her in Orlando for a lot of moral support!!! (she is so cool) There were 19 girls on the trip and 3 chaperones. They had a "Dance Share" at the first of the trip where they met a local high school dance group. The dancers took dance class together and then shared their choreography with each other. It was a neat experience and good for the girls to experience something outside of Payson, UT! :) After the "Dance Share" day, they went to DisneyWorld, SeaWorld, and Cocoa Beach over the next few days. It was a lot of fun!!! At the end of the semester Megan put on 3 dance concerts at Payson. The first was what she called a "Dance Department Showcase" where all of the Dance Classes were in the concert. Each of her classes did 2 dances (dance I and dance II classes) and then the social dance class did 2 dances as well. It was a good experience for these non-experienced dancers to perform in their very own concert. Then, she had her Spring Dance Concert with her Dance Company. It turned out great and she was very proud of all of her dancers and their hard work. The final concert was a Benefit Dance Concert. One of Megan's Dance Company members had a younger brother killed in a tragic accident. It was a very trialing time for all of the dancers. So, the Dance Company wanted to put on a Benefit Concert to help the family. They invited dance groups from the Community and Megan solicited the help of fellow Dance Company advisers to perform in the concert. It ended up being a very successful and rewarding experience. Megan has now officially completed her first year of teaching and feels great! She is looking forward to new and exciting adventures to come next year as she will return to Payson HS.
Blaine has been very busy studying, studying, and oh yeah...studying! He worked very hard all semester in each of his classes and ended up with very good grades. Not only has he been studying hard for his school classes, but he has been very diligent in his preparation for taking the MCAT. He would usually study anywhere from 4-8 hrs. a day and then each Saturday he would take a practice MCAT. As a result, he has been improving each week with his practice MCAT scores and is feeling confident about the real MCAT. Not only has he been studying for classes and the MCAT, but he has been preparing his applications for both MD schools and DO schools. They are looking very good and he is very appreciative of all the friends and family who have offered their support and assistance. Blaine has continued working at Ameritech College through the school year as well. He has been teaching Anatomy & Physiology and has recently returned to also teaching Medical Terminology. He does a great job teaching. He even brings in things like Pig and Cow heads for the class to disect. It is quite exciting believe it or not.
We have been doing great these past few months. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary in May which of course was very exciting. We moved to a new place this past month. We loved where we were living before, but we got a new landlord and because of various situations arising from that we decided to move. We found a great place that kept us in the same ward which is what we wanted. It is about the same size, but it has a great backyard with a patio, hot tub, and gorgeous view of the mountains. We also love our landlords. We live below a young family. They have 3 kids (8, 5, and 2). They are so fun and love to come hang out downstairs. It has been nice to have little kids running around. We have been loving summer! We are committed to having 2-3 BBQ's/week during the summer. It has been going pretty good the last couple of weeks. OH! they also have an adorable dog whose name is Bodi. He is so cute and gentle and fun to have around. He definitely has toned Megan down on the NEED to have a dog.
Well, we feel very blessed to be as happy as we are and to have the love we do from friends and family. We are looking forward to this summer and to keeping in better touch with whoever may read this blog! :)
