Quick Utah Trip

In the middle of August we headed up to Utah a for a quick 3 day trip. It was an interesting trip because of the events we were attending. The Tuesday before we left for Utah (which was on a Friday) we got some sad news that the wife of a medical school friend of Blaine's had passed away. She had cystic fibrosis and a year earlier had a double lung transplant. Her body began rejecting the lungs and things went down hill quickly during the month of October. Rick, our friend, was able to be holding his wife as she passed from this earth life. They were a beautiful couple and as optimistic as they come. We were glad we were able to be there for the viewing and funeral so that Blaine could give his friend some support during this difficult time.

The other event of the weekend was my Grandma's 80th birthday party. It was a surprise party and she was definitely surprised! It was at the end of the annual sisters retreat that my mom and her sisters and my Grandma have every other year.  That meant that all of my aunts and my mom were there at the party! It was really nice to see so much family, spend time with my mom, and celebrate my beautiful Grandma.

This picture I thought was pretty funny because my cousins little boy was so excited to see Grandma and surprise her, but happened to have the perfect placement with his happy arms!

3 generations!

My cousin Vanessa is a wonder with kids...as you can tell by Cleo's face here.

This is what the kids did pretty much the whole time...and they were quite happy!

That is a picture of my beautiful Grandma when she was a 6 or 7 years old.

2 of my aunts and my cousin working in the kitchen.

Mmmmmm food!

Birthday decorations!!!

While we were there we stayed one night with my in-laws in Alpine. We love them and were glad we could see them for even a quick bit. The next night we spent in hotel where Nolan had a total blast! He went swimming, ran around with his Oma, and slept in a queen size bed. He was happy! Cleo stayed up late, didn't sleep great, but still had a smile on her face. I have great kids!
