Well, our car didn't look too too bad, but the trouble was deep. The rear axle appeared to be broken. This Geo Prism was a '96 and had a whole lot of miles BUT was always a really easy car to own and we were given it for FREE! So, we were really happy with our Geo. Well, when we got back from our trip we were told to contact an Officer Hamm to get more information. At this point we had made a few phone calls but were unable to get much of anything from anyone. After a few more failed attempts getting any information once we were home, I was getting frustrated! Finally, after lots of annoying insurance calls we had a claims adjuster come check things out. This is where it got good! The claims adjuster ended up totaling the car and gave us 2x as much as we were thinking we would be given for the value of the car. So, with that money and some savings we went car shopping! We weighed a lot of aspects (size, shape, gas efficiency, reliability, etc.) and finally decided on a Honda Pilot. I found a 2008 Pilot with only 28,000 miles on it within our money range! It was so exciting and we immediately went to work on trying to buy a new family car...and that's just what we did!

From a Geo Prism to a Honda Pilot
While we were headed up to Utah (next post scheduled to be completed!) we got a phone call from our neighbor. Our car that was parked on the street had been hit...by a young girl who was high on drugs. It was at 1:30pm in the afternoon too! I am just so thankful that no kids were in the road when it happened. Apparently, she hit our car and then kept driving and bounced off the curb in front of the next house and then finally ran into a light pole and was stopped. When the police were talking with her I guess she had no idea she had even hit my car. So sad! She was so messed up.
